New Year on Main Street, January 1st, 2024
There was chatter in Facebook groups from Hopewell Junctionites requesting a small-town New Year ball drop- for 2025?
What would that look like? Celebrations trickling out of The Hopewell Inn to the Rec for fireworks? An evening parade? Food Trucks lined up before midnight?
Either way, this didn’t stop folks from celebrating 2024. We could hear the fireworks from home; we opened the blinds, hoping to see the cracks and pops in the sky, but nothing.
I wanted my first 2024 photos to be of Main Street or Route 82 (depending on whom you ask). Unless it’s a quick run to CVS- I avoid the area around this time of year, primarily because of the traffic.
There were little pockets of movement of people and cars heading to their destinations, but overall, it was relatively quiet early on January 1st, 2024—a calm feeling to the streets. I liked the stillness.
