From my desk to Main Street & backroads: Photo Essays of East Fishkill
12/23/23- Funeral services at Saint Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Procession route proceeded from Saint Columba Church to the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetry.
His loss marks the first officer fatality in East Fishkill's history.
Sergeant Daniel P. DiDato tragically lost his life in a car accident close to Mile Marker 36.2 on the southbound Taconic State Parkway around 6:00 pm on December 18th, 2023.
He was heading to Westchester Medical Center to speak with a pedestrian who had been hit by a car near the East Fishkill police station. While on the parkway, Officer DiDato's vehicle got off the road and hit a tree. He was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, but sadly, his injuries were fatal.
Having dedicated 18 years to the East Fishkill Police Department, Officer DiDato had previously worked for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for four years.
